Skills and Expertise of Key Personnel/Individuals

Dr Maria Hadjielia Drotarova, PhD President, Co-founder Senior Lecturer in the Field of Tourism and Hospitality, Adult Education
Maria has substantial experience on EU-funded projects under Erasmus+ and Horizon. Maria’s research interests focus on topics at the nexus of tourism management and education, while she is also researching phenomena linked to new technologies in tourism. There is much to gain from combining tourism and education, especially in specialized forms of tourism such as dark tourism and thanatourism, which can offer possibilities for re-education on the importance of places of death and disaster. Her contributions to the literature include, amongst others, theoretical understandings of educational experience and its social dimensions, the conceptualization of the nexus between thanatourism and emotions, and dynamics and processes associated with the functioning of short-term rental (STR) platforms in tourism (e.g., types of hosts, professionalisation and quality standards, etc.). RePAST is a Horizon 2020-funded project that aims to investigate how European societies deal with their troubled pasts today through the analysis of conflict discourses rooted in those pasts, with a view to the impact of those discourses on European integration. It will implement actions and propose strategies, both at the levels of policy-making and civil society, for reflecting upon these discourses to strengthen European integration. It will also take into account how the current crisis in its multiple forms (economic crisis, refugee crisis, political crisis) mediates these narratives.

Constantinos holds an LLM in Maritime and Marine Law from the University of Plymouth and is a certified Prince2 Agile project manager with extensive professional experience in digital projects, publications, editorial, events, content and communications management for international companies and organisations in the maritime industry. Constantinos has held the position of Publications Manager at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, a non-profit organisation and the largest provider of maritime commercial qualifications worldwide. He has also project-managed the development of several eLearning courses and other digital maritime competence solutions for Safebridge GmbH, which is recognised as the largest provider of ECDIS simulator training. Constantinos has cooperated with numerous maritime industry experts to publish 14 books on a broad range of commercial shipping subjects and has published work on piracy and kidnapping for ransom in the WMU Journal of Maritime Affairs. He has also served as Secretary for the Educational Trust Fund of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the Maritime London Cadet Officers Scheme in London.
Dr. Eva Barvirčakova Drotarova, PhD

Eva has obtained her PhD in the field of tourism and hotel management in Prešovská Univerzita v Prešove in Slovakia. Eva´s doctoral thesis used the questionnaire to find out the price influence extended related to a product acquisition in a spa centre. One of the goals of her doctoral thesis was to find out different factors which influence spa tourists’ acquisition, such as income, health condition, experience and viewpoint from family and friends. Eva has published several papers in textbooks of international conferences and scientific proceedings. Eva´s work has been focused on the tourism department and especially on spa tourism.

Our association was established to prepare projects and/or participate in international projects. Our association wants to contribute to the social integration and employment of young people, adults and refugees through science, culture, literature, sports, education and art by participating in larger national and international organizations.

Artika Creativity Association carries out the following activities in the national and international arena in order to realize its objectives:
a- It organizes competitions and exhibitions in the fields of science, culture, sports, and art, participates in competitions and exhibitions, conducts educational studies, and prepares and participates in international projects.
b- Cooperates with galleries, museums, associations, and foundations in all fields of science, culture, sports, and art.

Ramazan Akkurt is the contact person for the project: He has worked in Comenius projects in different countries with strategic partners and has worked as a coordinator in Erasmus projects. Project no. 2017-1-TR01-KA204-045660 ” He was the coordinator of the Erasmus KA2 project “I choose not to place “dis” in my ability”. Shelter international e.V., founded in 2017, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization in Bremen, Germany. Shelter international e.V. promotes dialogue and cooperation in the fields of education and training, youth, active citizenship, social inclusion, environment, health, peacebuilding, nonviolence action, personal development, human rights, sustainable development, social justice, employment, entrepreneurship, and social issues. Shelter international e.V. also promotes intercultural exchange with the ambition of recognizing and respecting cultural diversity, cultivating European values in all their forms, and defending human rights.
Shelter international e.V. carries out social inclusion and civic activities that support social diversity and contribute to solutions to social issues which are common concerns of our European societies. We strongly think that involving young people in civic activities and cross-border exchange programs can be a powerful and effective tool for broadening horizons, breaking down stereotypes and prejudices, and reducing social exclusion and disengagement.
Thus, shelter international e.V. promotes participation opportunities for young people, especially those with fewer opportunities due to formal or informal access barriers. We support young people as we are aware of the need to support both young people affected and endangered by risks of social exclusion and young people taking initiatives to make it easier for everyone to access civic activities and to make our societies more peaceful and pleasant places for everyone to live in. Thus, shelter international e.V. helps to increase the capacity of young people by including them effectively in the direct implementation of the core activities that develop their skills and empower them to become more independent and sustainable people in social life and in community building and development. We engage young people in a constructive way and enable them to take the initiative to form and develop ideas that meet people’s needs and help to reduce the issues and challenges that societies are most confronted with. We also provide young people and adults with the skills to develop social, intercultural, and critical thinking competences for a more inclusive education, training, and youth field. We work with different institutions to address different social and global issues and to encourage young people to take an active role in societies.

Shelter international e.V. is involved in promoting opportunities to create better possibilities for the empowerment of newcomers. We are working to raise awareness of the needs of newcomers and offer them help and advice in legal cases. We are actively promoting education and workshops to reduce the social exclusion of newcomers, immigrants, and disadvantaged youth.
Shelter international e.V. plays an active role in shaping an ecologically sustainable, socially just environment while remaining mindful of the global dimension. As environmentally mindful people, we strongly believe that raising awareness of environmental issues is of extreme importance. We understand the fragility of our environment and the importance of its protection and take action to promote sustainable development and a more eco-friendly way of living and taking good care of nature.
These actions consist of the 3R of sustainability: reduce, reuse, recycle; and more sustainable ways of living. Furthermore, we are also deeply concerned about the pollution in nature and seas, most notably plastic pollution. For that, we believe the governmental institutions, NGOs, and society should take solid steps toward protecting the environment and oceans.
In 2019, we gained 3 new active members in order to increase our capacity to organize more local projects to increase our impact on the local level. We have also focused on strategic partnership projects with local activities and events to be able to reach more young people. We are already working with reliable partners on one KA2 project and one Capacity Building in the field of youth projects with a focus on the youth work with minorities. We have also developed KA2 projects together with our partners to empower young adults with migrant backgrounds in their successful integration into society through non-formal education and best practices of social entrepreneurship. We also developed a training module “Working with Young Migrants”. Our strategic partnership project “Developing entrepreneurship and self-employment skills of immigrants” started with the leadership of shelter international e.V. All members of our organization have ample experience in the Erasmus+ Programme and have participated in KA1 and KA2 projects both as participants and trainers/facilitators.

Main Activities of the Organization

As a non-profit organization, we are committed to doing civic activities for the benefit of all. For this purpose, we are focusing on three key areas: project activities, public education, and engagement in social issues. Since 2017, shelter international e.V. has accumulated experience and maintains expertise in the field of learning, training, and mobility in education – this is well backed up by its participation in Erasmus+ projects. Shelter international e.V. carries out quality projects in cooperation with an extensive and constantly expanding network of local and international partners. The members of shelter international e.V. work as a team, mostly with young people and other partners together, on the conception and development of new projects such as youth exchanges, seminars, or training courses. We have experience in project management and organized several activities such as youth exchanges, training courses, and study visits. Shelter international e.V. is experienced in the development of thematic collaborations, and encouraging new partnerships to develop/implement European projects. In 2018, we have implemented our training course “Challenges and Realities: Migration“ which has received the award of “good practice example”. In 2019, we have successfully implemented 4 youth exchanges on topics of tolerance, gender role, migration, and active citizenship. Since 2019, we have developed and worked with our partners on 3 ongoing strategic partnership projects, namely, “Smart Aspirations Future Employment+ (SAFE+)”, “Minorities in Focus-Living together in Intercultural Society/MFLTS”, “Developing entrepreneurship and self-employment skills of immigrants”. Since 2018, we have been a partner in 29 projects where we have prepared and mobilized great numbers of young people and youth workers for our partner projects abroad.

Apart from the European projects, we have been working on local activities to promote youth participation and social inclusion. Focusing on the need to improve the disadvantaged situation of young people in their communities and help them to become more active and integrated into the local communities in which they live, we propose local activities to young people on different topics such as empowerment, intercultural training, forum theatre, anti-racism, gender issues, etc. Together with the Bremen empowerment project (BEP), we offer consulting for migrants, especially refugees and asylum seekers, and empowerment activities, in all manifestations such as playing volleyball, performing art, drama, having picnics, workshops on different topics, etc. Our facilities have enough space and room (next to the offices, one event room, and one seminar room available) to lead such [indoor] activities. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the activities have been frozen but we managed to do a “re: connect” project in August 2020 to bring local youngsters and young migrants together to experience encounters with each other in times of social isolation and overcome distance to remind solidarity and things that connect us.

The interdisciplinary team of shelter international e.V. has extensive experience in youth mobility, community development, and entrepreneurship development. Our organization’s staff members understand the youth segment in a more diverse way; their needs and priorities, skills and potential, their drive and synergy, and their developmental needs for a greater sustainable future. Most of our staff have over five years of experience in youth mobility within European and partner countries. This gives our organization the ability to initiate and implement projects of any magnitude and effectively carry them out and produce tangible results that have a positive impact on the target groups.
The founder of shelter international e.V., Ayhan Feraset, is a trainer and youth worker. He studied philosophy, with a focus on education and language. He has skills in facilitation, monitoring and evaluation, project planning and design, staff management, and development. He has great knowledge in the field of youth and he has participated in various youth exchanges, training courses, study visits, seminars such as mobility taster, training of trainers, it is up to me, one2one, and many more related to youth work. He has participated in numerous human rights conferences. He is responsible for leading the strategic development and execution of a collection of initiatives that build upon current inclusion projects, expand the influence and impact with participants and beneficiaries, both domestically and internationally, and strengthen engagement with young people and young adults. He spent a lot of time for Non-profit Organizations working on domestic and international projects on different topics. His work focuses on developing learning strategies that help to regulate development initiatives with educational programs. His background of education includes understanding what enables individuals to be open to new experiences, learn from them, and integrate the new understanding into the way they make sense of and approach their work. He has also worked in the International Office as a community manager with the 20 international communities and groups from different EU and Non-EU countries to organize international and intercultural events.

Schirin Al Madani is an intercultural trainer with a certificate and is in charge of youth and youth empowerment programs in shelter international e.V. She has qualifications in psychology, yoga, intercultural learning, and self-empowerment. Facilitating sessions on young empowerment, youth self-esteem motivation, and career path strengthening for youngsters through youth entrepreneurship training.

Mariann Schäfer has a bachelor’s degree in Art in Social Contexts. Art Therapy and Educadion from HKS Ottersberg. During and after her studies she worked as an art educator and course leader in an extracurricular and cultural context (gallery, museum, art school). During this time she organized projects and courses for youngsters, teenagers, adults, and multipliers. The offers included topics related to art, culture, empowerment, and finding one’s own artistic expression. She also received a certificate from the DJH e.V. to give (team-building) workshops for young people and adults. She took part in various Erasmus+ projects and gained a lot of experience working with international groups on the base of non-formal education. She is currently completing her master’s degree in Cultural Management.

The educational background of the members is various; it includes trainers, youth workers, artists, art therapists, and financial managers. Living in a multicultural community is considered an advantage for the members, knowing the importance of tolerance between different cultural entities and breaking prejudices.

WYŻSZA SZKOŁA BIZNESU I NAUK O ZDROWIU (WSBINOZ) is the first non-public higher education institution in central Poland that offers health-allied and medical-allied studies as well as business and pedagogy faculties. The world class school facility and an outstanding training atmosphere promoted by highly competent and most distinguished specialist, practitioners and academic teachers guarantee the unique and ambitious curriculum, theoretical knowledge and practical skills so desired in professional life. Young adults are taught how to take advantage of the acquired skills and knowledge as well as to keep on developing personal abilities and become professionally successful. At the current stage has more than 60-70 full-time employees and more than 200 academic teachers on contract.

WSBINOZ conducts numerous researches and educational projects, cooperates with various educational, health care, sport-allied and business-allied institutions, remains locally and regionally active in the field of conference and workshops organization, social work and community elicitation. Prominent and well-qualified managers, determined students and academics guarantee its successful development and involvement in various thematic projects related to development of new ideas and services, curriculum building, preparation course syllabus, elaboration of materials and terminology for thematic courses and others.
WSBINOZ’s educational science department offers a wide range of courses and activities including workshops and seminars related to entrepreneurship, management and marketing, interpersonal communication, shaping creative attitudes, creative problem-solving and coping with stress as well as healthy and active living, dietetics and sport activities. We teach how to work with children and their families, to provide professional help to children, youth and adults, especially those who suffer from family violence and poor social situation. Education we offer also covers: early school education, pedagogy and health promotion, social pedagogy in the context of social work, therapeutic pedagogy and physical rehabilitation, internal security and language courses.
The authorities consider issues connected with university’s educational offer development as well as with scientific activities expansion as priority. It is essential to establish a suitable intellectual and material base to attract scientific, academic staff and young adults – future students.
At the current stage of development, The University of Business and Health Science has a clearly specified activity areas at various departments and faculties. Several seminars have been created, numerous workshops and conferences covering different fields have been organized to attract local community, especially disadvantages groups as seniors 50+, unemployed or unqualified adults, youths from socially and economically disadvantaged areas, mothers on maternity leave who intend to remain active in the field of education, discriminated young adults, disabled persons, adults with educational difficulties, migrants.
WSBINOZ plays an important role on local educational market in terms of organization of additional thematic courses for disadvantaged groups. Its intention is to cooperate with local, regional and national authorities in order to provide thematic workshops and seminars as well as to attract target groups.

Since 2011 The University has successfully implemented over 50 European educational and research projects, both as a partner and as a coordinator. These initiatives covered subjects of family education, intergenerational education, healthy and active living, project management, creativeness and entrepreneurship, work with migrant kids and young adults, digital storytelling, justice, sport and many more.

ROLE OF THE PARTNER IN THE PROJECT – SKILLS AND EXPERTISE OF KEY PERSONS

WSBINOZ will bring to the project its experience in conducting researches, impact evaluation processes with reference to policies and educational projects, in cooperating with various education and health care institutions, in local and regional activity in the field of social work and community elicitation. Staff of WSBINOZ possess required experience and knowledge for proper implementation of the project activities, achieving goals, valorisation and dissemination of the project outputs, assures the right and correct project management, in agreement with the criteria foreseen by the EU and Programme criteria. Professional financial and management staff will take care of the project development process to guarantee that the resources and budget are adequately managed and used.
Ewelina K. Goździk, certified, senior project manager, expert in the field of administrative and financial management of EU funded projects. Responsible fo: establishment of cooperation with project team, cooperation with academic teachers, local authorities and medias, organization of thematic events, conduction of dissemination and evaluation activities.
Przemysław Pirek, financial officer, responsible for cooperation with project manager and assistant to project manager, cooperation with coordinator of the project. Main responsibilities: management of cash flow, archiving of financial document, (invoice, payslips), preparation of financial report and statistics. Przemysław’s professional experience: financial controller, analysis specialist and bursar.
Aleksandra Mysiakowska, public relation manager, responsible for close cooperation with local, regional and national media, planning, developing and implementing PR strategies, coordination of media campaigns, presentation of the university on educational market, manage thematic events, write interesting and effective press releases.
Joanna Komorek, assistant to project manager responsible for organization activities related to project topics. Joanna has graduated with honours from Technical University of Lodz (environmental engineering) and Academy of Physical Education; an active sports manager, coach and certified trainer working with children, youths and adults, including people with physical disabilities. Participant and a speaker in several seminars and conferences.
Jan Wiśniewski, assistant to project manager responsible for organization activities related to project topics. Jan has graduated with honours from University of Lodz (pedagogy – socio-cultural prevention and animation). For several years he has been psychopedagogue in Psychological-educational counselling center. Main areas of interests: conducting diagnostic research, diagnosing causes that hinder pupils’ active and full participation in life, preventive measures against educational failures.
Aneta Orska, teacher, trainer, pedagogue, psychopedagogue (MA). For several years, she has been a trainer and has led the interpersonal workshops (topics related to the development of skills and competencies such as conflict resolution, methodology, team building, collaboration, team management, self-presentation, coping with stress) for students of universities of various departments. Wojciech Welskop is a PhD of social sciences, university teacher. He graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences of University in Wroclaw. He is a head of the Social Science Department at The University of Business Administration and Health Sciences in Lodz. He is a member of The Polish Sociological Association and a member of The Polish Society for Social Policy. He is interested in the sociology of education, sociology of social problems and social policy. An author of several scientific publications.
Piotr Jancz – an academic teacher, degree in English Literature (MA) with around 20 years of experience in teaching of English different groups of learners: the young one as well as adults, including different occupational groups; he was involved in the EU-funded projects as a lecturer. He is responsible for linguistic support of students at Wyzsza Szkola Biznesu i Nauk o Zdrowiu.
Anna Sztekmiller Szymańska is a PhD, she has graduated with honors from Technical University in Lodz – (faculty of biotechnology), an university teacher with more than 15 years of experience; an author/co-author of many curriculums, guides and methodical materials.
